The Learning For Life Curriculum
Our curriculum has been carefully designed to provide children with a in depth knowledge of each subject. Children are also taught the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively within each subject domain. Throughout every curriculum subject, children are explicitly taught to be resourcesful, be resilient, take risks, be reflective and use positive relationships whilst always showing respect. The 6Rs are fundamental to our school curriculum and ensure that children are lifelong learners.
We aspire for children to truly understand what Learning for Life really means. Children at Holgate understand the importance of being a Lifelong Learner who are Equipped for the World, Ambitious in Every Area, Resilient and Courageous with No Limits to their Success. Each progressively mapped out curriculum area is taught under these principles and learning behaviours. Children know and remember the clearly defined substantive and disciplinary knowledge of each subject whilst simulatenously developing these key learning behaviours. As a result, children leave Holgate ready for their life at high school and life in modern Britain.
